What we don't keep
- Card details. These go straight to Stripe. We never see your full card number.
- Your transcripts and clips. They're kept in the server's memory for about an hour so the page can show them, then deleted. Your Recent list is stored only in your own browser.
- Your video files. When you make clip videos, the video file you choose is read by your own browser on your own device. It's never uploaded to Clipscrybe.
- No advertising or tracking cookies. We use one essential cookie to keep you logged in, and one short-lived cookie during Google sign-in.
Who we share data with
- Stripe: payments (see Stripe's privacy policy).
- Google: if you choose Google sign-in, or if we email you through Gmail.
- Supadata: the link of each video you transcribe is sent to Supadata, which fetches the video's captions or transcribes its audio. No account details are sent.
- Anthropic: the text of a transcript is sent to Anthropic's API to add punctuation, translate it into the language you picked and choose the best clips. No account details are sent.
- YouTube: if you press Preview on a clip, the clip plays in YouTube's privacy-enhanced player, and YouTube's own privacy policy applies to that player.
- Our hosting provider, which runs the server.
We don't sell your data. Some of these providers may process data outside the UK under appropriate safeguards.
How long we keep it
Account data is kept while your account is open. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete it within 30 days, except records we must keep by law, such as payment records held by Stripe.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see, correct, delete or move your data, or object to how we use it. Email us and we'll reply within a month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
